Hello and Welcome to the Greyhound Lacrosse Club!

The Greyhound Lacrosse Club is very excited to welcome you!!

The paragraphs below explain our Summer and Fall 2008 Board Structure, Fees and Schedules. The GLC will be restructuring in 2009. Please return to the website in the beginning of December for the 2009 Board Structure, Fees and Schedules.

The Greyhound Lacrosse Club is operated by Kerri O’Day (President) and Kristin Hagert (Vice President), both former Division I Women’s Lacrosse Coaches at Loyola College. Closely supporting Kerri and Kristin, are Monica Yeakel (Team Management Coordinator), former Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach at UMBC and volunteer assistant coach at Loyola, and goalie specialist, Linda Ohrin, former Head Coach Women’s Lacrosse Coach at Towson University. These GLC members are graduates of Loyola and former Loyola College Division I lacrosse players. The importance and success of the GLC organization is close to our hearts, as former Greyhound students and athletes. We intend to form a competitive, disciplined, committed and fun atmosphere for lacrosse instruction and game knowledge. The make up of our GLC coaching ranks will be former college coaches and/or former Loyola players. Our other GLC Board Members include our Recruiting Coordinator, Jessica Onheiser, also a former Division I Coach at Loyola College, and the GLC Treasurer, Joann Austin, who currently works in the athletic offices at Loyola College. In addition, Brad Howatt will serve on the GLC Board as our Director of Operations.

The Greyhound Lacrosse Club is a not-for-profit organization with an annual fee of $650, due in mid-December of each year. This fee will pay for quality coaching, Loyola College practice facilities (Friends School is our back-up site), recruiting seminars, sports medicine staff, tournament travel coordination, administrative operations, player water bottle, player uniform, practice shorts, practice reversible and game reversible. (Note: Additional gear will be available throughout the year through C&A Sportswear online stores). Separate tournament fees, one before each Fall season, and again before the Spring/Summer season, will also be collected, dependent upon tournament costs per season. The Fall season will exist from mid-September to mid-November, with one practice per week per team and two to three tournaments. Winter agility/conditioning and stick skills sessions will be offered, along with recruiting seminars for the high school sophomore and junior teams. The Spring/Summer season will take place from mid-May to mid-July, two practices per week per high school team and one practice per week for middle school teams, and we will take part in three to four tournaments. Per NCAA rules, every participating player in the GLC organization MUST reside within a 50 mile radius of Loyola College’s Evergreen Campus.

Every GLC player will be required to take part in annual try-outs (held in the Fall of each year). It is important to remember that we are a club program, not a high school or rec league, and that no players’ position is guaranteed—at the high school level, at the college level and in the working world. If you are not keeping your commitments to the program, you will see decreased playing time and eventually be let go. If positions were guaranteed, there would be complacency in our organization, and that is unacceptable. Every player is expected to attend all practices, tournaments, work-out sessions and seminars (with the exception of other sport commitments or family conflicts communicated to the coach prior to an event….but don’t make it a habit!).

Discipline, commitment, passion and hard work will lead to success in the Greyhound Lacrosse Club. Thank you in advance for your interest in our growing organization with flexibility and enthusiasm. Again, welcome to the Greyhound Lacrosse Club! GO GREYHOUNDS!!
